MEET THE TEAM

Katie La, MA, LPC-S Licensed Professional Counselor & Supervisor

I am a trauma-competent therapist committed to providing in-depth, high-quality care that honors the complexity of each individual’s lived experience. Grounded in a trauma-informed, justice-oriented, and decolonized framework, my work centers on creating a safe, compassionate space for healing through collaboration, body-based practices, and collective care.

Fluent in Vietnamese and with a refugee immigrant background, I’m especially passionate about expanding access for culturally responsive mental health services within AAPI and immigrant communities. I advocate strongly for BIPOC communities and am dedicated to anti-oppressive, anti-racist approaches to care.

In addition to my clinical work, I lead workshops and talks on trauma, mental health, and cultural resilience to empower individuals and communities. I’m also deeply invested in training and mentoring the next generation of therapists, helping them build the confidence, skills, and cultural awareness needed to become effective agents of healing.

I am a certified complex trauma therapist, trained in polyvagal therapy, EMDR, and somatic practices—each modality serving as a pathway to support deeper, more holistic healing. At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to fostering meaningful, lasting change for individuals, families, and the systems that hold them.

Duni Porter, MS, LPC

I hold a Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and I’m a compassionate therapist committed to supporting the mental and emotional well-being of children, adolescents, and adults. I take a client-centered approach, meeting each person where they are and helping them navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, life transitions, and complex family dynamics.

In my work, I draw from a range of evidence-based practices—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques. I tailor each session to fit the unique needs of my clients. With younger children, I often use creative, developmentally appropriate tools to help them express emotions and build coping skills. When working with adolescents and adults, I focus on fostering insight, resilience, and strong, healthy relationships.

Creating a warm, nonjudgmental, and inclusive space is central to my work. I want every client—regardless of age or background—to feel heard, supported, and respected. Whether I’m working with a child who’s struggling in school, a teen exploring identity, or an adult managing stress or trauma, I’m honored to walk alongside them on their path toward healing and growth.

I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in International Business and Economics. Before entering the clinical field, I spent seven years in full-time ministry, where I gained invaluable experience in gospel outreach, spiritual warfare, and supporting individuals and communities through church trauma. That foundation continues to shape my approach today, as I strive to foster hope, resilience, and connection—both in therapy and in life.

As a bilingual therapist fluent in Spanish and English, I offer a culturally and spiritually sensitive approach to mental health care. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, and trauma, and I’m passionate about helping people feel seen, valued, and empowered in their healing journey.

My counseling style is person-centered and eclectic—I believe that therapy should be as unique as the individual. I tailor each session to meet my clients where they are, drawing from a variety of evidence-based approaches that align with their needs, strengths, and values. Above all, I’m committed to creating a safe and supportive space where clients can feel heard, explore their challenges, and develop meaningful tools to support both emotional and spiritual well-being.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you NOT to be?” Marianne Williamson

My passion is to see people experience true freedom from the negative life experiences that have kept them from stepping into their fullest capacity for love, joy, peace, and meaningful relationships-with themselves and with others. I view counseling as a partnership, walking alongside them on their unique journey toward greater health, healing, and wholeness.

Because I’ve walked my own path of healing, I understand that the process can feel overwhelming at times. But I also know it holds moments of breakthrough, insight, and transformation. My approach to counseling is rooted in compassion, authenticity, and a deep belief in the resilience of the human spirit.
I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Amberton University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University. Because of my background in both mental health and physical care, I approach healing from a holistic perspective-acknowledging that we are integrated beings: body, soul, and spirit. I believe that both past and present traumas can deeply affect our relationships, as well as our emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing.

In my practice, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore, process, and grow. I believe with the right space, tools, and support, everyone has the capacity to heal.

Welcome to this next step in your personal journey toward greater freedom and wholeness.

Chassidy Wooten, Graduate Counseling Intern Supervised by Katie La, LPC-S

I’m currently a practicum therapist working toward my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. With a heart for healing and a deep commitment to culturally responsive care, I strive to bring a grounded, holistic, and affirming presence into every therapy session.
My approach blends evidence-based practices with a warm, person-centered lens. I aim to create a space where clients feel empowered to embrace their full humanity as they navigate challenges related to anxiety, identity, life transitions, self-worth, and emotional regulation.
Before entering the counseling field, I cultivated a background in holistic wellness and entrepreneurship. That experience continues to inform my understanding of the mind-body connection, intergenerational healing, and the vital role of self-preservation—especially within historically marginalized communities.

I believe in meeting people where they are, honoring both logic and intuition, and gently guiding them back to their inner voice with compassion and clarity.

Outside the therapy room, I find joy in soulful music, creative expression, and nurturing my wellness brand, Necessidy.
